Aloha from Hawaii!

 Ms. Quinn and Class,

Hawaii the only state that is a group of islands.
Really it is made of eight islands I live on the biggest island named Hawaii. Also known as
the Big Island of Hawaii.
Here are some interesting fact about Hawaii and the Big Island...
Aloha is a greeting...means hello, goodbye, and I love you (Love)
Aloha, in a traditional sense, means the sharing of one's life energy, spirit, and breath(or ha)with another.

Hawaii state flag is there on the left.  The Hawaiian flag is made from both the American and British flag designs....the eight stripes are for the eight islands...

Something interesting about the Island I live on also known by the Big Island is ...
There are 13 climate zones on Earth. The Big Island has all of them except
the Arctic and Saharan.   Within one day on the Big Island, you can travel through
rainforests, snow covered mountain tops, deserts and beaches.

Our island    has two major towns one on the windward Side name is Hilo
the largest town with the most people and the wet side. Then one on the west side name is Kailua Kona called Kona mostly the dry side.
Near Hilo is Volcanoes National Park with Kilauea  volcano that is still  erupting. An active volcano to this day making new land every day.

Average Temperature:
Hilo: Temperatures average around 70°F in the winter and 75°F in the summer.
Kailua-Kona: Temperatures average around 80°F in the winter and 87°F in the summer.
Record Temperatures:
Hilo: Record High 94°F, Record low 53°F
Kailua-Kona: Record high 95°F, Record low 57°F
Average Rainfall:
Hilo: Over 100" of rain per year
Kailua-Kona: 10 inches per year
Ocean temperature: 71° to 81°
I live on the west side on the island. also the desert part
of the island we get less than 10 inches of rain a year... It is called Waikoloa.
I live about 30 miles from Kona and to go to the beach maybe 7 or 8 miles.
